NWA-TNA live on Pay per View!
Huntsville, Alabama – Martin Van Buern Arena
Fireworks went off around the Martin Van Buern Arena in Huntsville, Alabama as the fans were on their feet waiting for the first Pay per View from NWA-TNA to get underway.
TNA Reporter, Jeremy Borash standing in the middle of the ring welcomed everyone watching to the show before immediately introducing former NWA World Champion… Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat!
Steamboat made his way out to the ring to a big ovation from the fans in attendance. Steamboat and Borash shook hands before Borash handed ‘The Dragon’ his microphone. Ricky Steamboat was proud to announce the partnership between the oldest most respected wrestling franchise in the world the NWA and a new hungry outfit in TNA! Steamboat said it was a great deal for both parties and the NWA Board of Directors and TNA Management are very happy with the deal, the deal would allow the NWA World and NWA World Tag Team titles to be defended on the weekly TNA Pay per Views where the legacy of the titles can be restored and carried on to new heights. TNA will have their own Championship title belt which will also be defended on the weekly shows and while the NWA World and NWA World Tag Team titles have great legacies behind them the TNA Championship has a clean slate and its an opportunity for the men that get to work for this company and vie for the title to great a legacy of their own. Steamboat said NWA-TNA will showcase the hungriest, greatest young talent in the business along with hungry veterans still with a point to prove but at this moment in time all are only on short term contracts because talent will need to impress before they are signed to full time NWA-TNA contracts. Steamboat said with that it was time to get on with the show, Steamboat will be around for the next few weeks to keep an eye on things but now it was time to get on with the show and it promises to be a great show because everyone in action tonight has a point to prove.
Mike Tenay and his broadcast partner Don West were shown at ringside our announce team for the evening as Ricky Steamboat left ringside. Tenay welcomed everyone to the show introduced West, before Tenay and West went over a few things Steamboat announced. Tenay was excited about the prospect of the NWA World and NWA World Tag Team titles being defended here in TNA calling it a great honor but both Tenay and West were pumped that TNA would also crown their own Champion and would be able to watch their own Championship grow into a World title and maybe one day replacing the NWA title as the most respected Championship in the game. Roster spots need to be filled so everyone in every match will be giving their all and looking to impress. Tenay and West revealed that before each match tonight we would hear from every competitor, Tenay then ran through tonight’s card…
(G) Tonight; Chris Harris V Jeff Jarrett!
(G) Tonight; Ron Killings V Prince Lawler!
(G) Tonight’s Main Event; Low Ki V Steve Corino!
Also tonight Konnan teams with his country man Psicosis in tag team action plus much more but up first tonight former ECW Champion, Jerry Lynn takes on AJ Styles…
(RI) Jerry Lynn said he was excited about everything NWA-TNA was offering, Lynn as a young child always wanted to follow in the footsteps of Ricky Steamboat and Ric Flair by becoming the NWA World Champion, the real worlds champion. Lynn has busted his ass for little reward but now he would make sure things change and Lynn has set him self a few goals to reach before his career ticks away. Lynn wants to accomplish his child hood dream of becoming the NWA World Champion plus Lynn wants to be known as one of the cornerstones of TNA and one of the first great TNA Champions and achieving both of these goals would help Lynn achieve his ultimate goal of being recognized years from now as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and not just a respected journey man.
(RI) AJ Styles admitted to respecting Jerry Lynn saying Lynn was one of the most recognizable names on this first NWA-TNA roster after his time in ECW and the WWF but that doesn’t make Jerry Lynn better than him. Styles may not been known around the world yet but give it a couple more weeks then everyone will know about AJ Styles because every time he steps into the ring he will leave everyone with their jaws touching the floor with goose bumps on their arms and send shivers down their spine because as the NWA-TNA and the world will come to know he is nothing short of phenomenal…
Match 1; Jerry Lynn V AJ Styles
Time Limit; 15 Minutes
AJ Styles came off the middle rope with a moonsault into reverse DDT but before AJ could plant Lynn, Lynn turned into Styles tripped Styles’ legs and surprised AJ Styles with a jackknife roll up which was enough to keep AJ down for the 3 count.
Winner; Jerry Lynn
Jerry Lynn may have come away with the victory but in a couple of weeks/months Lynn will realize how much this victory means how big this win was because AJ Styles impressed the hell out of everyone and showed he has the potential to a be a true player in NWA-TNA.
AJ Styles was on his feet first, while Jerry Lynn sitting next to the ropes had his hand raised in victory by the official. Styles spoke with the official debating the fall claiming he kicked out in time while Lynn celebrated his win.
Replayed aired showing that Jerry Lynn kept AJ Styles shoulders down the jackknife cradle, AJ kicked out just after the officials hit the mat for a third time. AJ Styles was disappointed with the outcome even though he undoubtedly impressed everyone watching. Lynn was about to leave the ring when he noticed AJ standing with his head down by the ropes so Lynn confronted AJ gave AJ some words of encouragement and offered his hand to AJ and AJ was quick to shake Jerry Lynn’s hand. Nice show of respect by both AJ Styles and Jerry Lynn.
Mike Tenay, AJ Styles and Jerry Lynn have set the standard tonight and now it’s up to everyone else to match or better Styles and Lynn’s performance.
(G) Up Next; James Storm V Alan Funk…
(RI) Alan Funk boasted that while Terry Funk and Dory Funk (no relations to Alan) may have been crown jewels in the history of the NWA and former NWA World Champions they have nothing on him because fans will come to learn that he is the greatest Funk of them all.
(RI) James Storm let everyone know that he went by the moniker of the ‘Tennessee Cowboy’ and the name fits perfectly. Storm doesn’t pretend to be a cowboy and you’ll hear no yee-ha’s out of him but like every Cowboy he likes a few beers and a good old fight so that’s what everyone in NWA-TNA is going to get out of him. Storm’s coming to kick ass, make some money, win some gold and celebrate with a couple of beers…
Match 2; James Storm V Alan Funk
Time Limit; 15 Minutes
James Storm crotched Alan Funk on the top turnbuckle before taking Funk off the top with a Superplex, Storm instead of going for the cover lined Funk up waited for Funk to get back to his feet and once Funk did Storm clocked Funk with a crescent kick but Funk was straight back up but rocked Funk allowing Storm to plant Funk with his Eye of the Storm which was enough to give Storm the win.
Winner; James Storm
James Storm, nothing fancy just straight up in your face and Storm looked good doing it as for Alan Funk on tonight’s showing there is no merit whatsoever in his claim that he’s the greatest Funk off all.
James Storm just stood in the middle of the ring looking out at the fans that were on their feet for Storm giving Storm a respectful ovation. Tennessee Cowboy had a huge smile on his face as Alan Funk rolled and dropped out of the ring. Storm climbed upon the middle turnbuckle in the corner let out a scream. This is where I belong!!
(G) Tonight; Chris Harris V Jeff Jarrett!
(G) Tonight; Ron Killings V Prince Lawler!
(G) Tonight’s Main Event; Low-Ki V Steve Corino!
Harley Race former NWA World Champion and true wrestling legend was shown sitting in the crowd. Race waved into the camera as Mike Tenay announced that next week Harley Race would be back inside an NWA ring because The King has been given time to make an announcement.
Christian York and Joey Matthews a tag team here in NWA-TNA who are not scheduled to make their in ring debuts until next week were shown backstage sitting by a monitor ahead of tonight’s next match which would pit Lenny Lane and David Young against two of Mexico’s biggest ever stars in Psicosis and Konnan…
(RI) Lenny Lane did the talking for him and David Young. Lane is a face the wrestling world may recognize but not with fond memories fans who do remember him may remember him as a Chris Jericho look a like or for his role in the joke of a tag team but now there would be no more jokes no more pretending to be anyone else because it finally hit him like a rock to the head that his career was going nowhere but now that’s about to change so he contacted TNA Management and told them he and his boy David Young would take NWA-TNA by storm so tonight against Konnan and Psicosis he stands by his word because his career may depend on it.
(RI) Konnan with Psicosis standing beside him told the fans that throughout Mexico for many, many years he has been the biggest star they have ever seen the level of Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair or Steve Austin at their peaks. Konnan spoke in both English and Spanish. Konnan said in the U.S they are accepted and cheered but by most are seen as outsiders Konnan accepts and understands that but it was now his and Psicosis mission to become superstars on that level in this company and they going to achieve that by becoming the NWA World Tag Team Champions…
Match 3; Konnan and Psicosis V Lenny Lane and David Young
Time Limit; 15 Minutes
David Young smashed Psicosis with a beautiful Spinebuster which may have brought Young and Lane the victory but Konnan clotheslined Young over the top which left Konnan’s back open for Lane to attack. Lane hammered away at Konnan as Psicosis started to recover, Lane attempted to send Konnan into the ropes but Konnan reversed the attempt kept hold of Lane’s wrist and drilled Lane with an X Factor, Psicosis then came off the top rope nailing Lane with a Guillotine Leg Drop. Konnan knocked Young off the apron as Psicosis covered Lane for the victory.
Winners; Konnan and Psicosis
Lenny Lane gave it everything he had but it wasn’t enough on this night and Management may ask themselves does Lenny Lane have the talent to be apart of NWA-TNA’s future. David Young on the other hand looked decent, small tough built like a wall and may be worth another look.
Konnan and Psicosis performed like they had a point to prove and if they keep winning then they could possibly achieve their goal of becoming the NWA World Tag Team Champions.
Psicosis was up on the ropes as Konnan was leaning into the camera again talking in Spanish but it was clear that Konnan was letting everyone know that he and Psicosis were coming for the NWA World Tag Team titles.
David Young after Konnan and Psicosis had started making their way back up the aisle rolled out of the ring where Lenny Lane was sitting with his head in his hands. Lane jumped to his feet and seemed to be apologizing to Young and offered his hand to David Young but Young walked out on Lenny Lane.
Mike Tenay and Don West were shown at ringside sitting behind their broadcast table. Tenay and West were impressed by the show so far agreeing that everyone is at least trying giving their all. West said he’s been most impressed so far by the Tennessee Cowboy James Storm, Tenay agreed Storm looked good but even in defeat AJ Styles is the man that has left an impression with the Professor. Tonight’s Main Event was hyped pitting Steve Corino ‘King of Old School’ against Low Ki. Tenay told the fans he was delighted that NWA-TNA had signed Low-Ki because Low-Ki is an ‘Underground Sensation’ and ‘Wrestling’s best kept secret’. Tonight we will see how the ‘Warrior’ Low-Ki fares when he takes on a former World Champion and student of the game in Steve Corino.
West revealed that up next we would see two men who might quite familiar to the fans but both men now finally believe they aren’t being held back and have the opportunity to be them selves.
(G) Up Next; Ron Killings V Prince Lawler…
(RI) Prince Lawler wearing a crown, finally admitted to what everyone always knew that he was the son of Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler. Prince Lawler said throughout his career he has tried to step out of his Daddy’s footsteps but he rebelled but now he has realized that his Daddy paved the way for him and he shouldn’t be trying to step out of his footsteps but follow in The King’s footsteps so that’s what he’s going to do. Lawler told everyone associated with NWA-TNA that he wants to be treated like royalty and tonight he’s going to make Ron Killings a street thug bow down to the Prince of wrestling!
(RI) Ron Killings is going to open up, let everyone in on what makes Ron Killings who he is. Killings admitted to getting into trouble with the law when he first got out of school, fell into gang trouble Killings had no direction in life and after spending time in juvenile detention he found his passions, music and wrestling. Killings has turned his life around and after some false starts he finally gets his career started by whooping Prince Lawler and shoving his silver spoon down his throat and that’s the truth!!
Match 4; Ron Killings V Prince Lawler
Time Limit; 15 Minutes
Prince Lawler was carried to ringside on a throne by four oiled up muscular men, Lawler wearing a crown, robe and ring gear like his Dad was also carrying a scepter.
Prince Lawler sent Ron Killings into the corner and followed Killings in but Killings pushed himself of the top rope and floated over Lawler’s head, Lawler hit the turnbuckle chest first. Killings flipped back on to his feet ducked a running clothesline from Lawler by doing the front splits before catching a coming back Lawler with a jumping heel kick. Killings waited for Lawler to get back to his feet and once Lawler did Killings came off the ropes with a spinning flying forearm and then spiked Lawler face first into the mat with a sit out gordbuster which was enough for the 1…2…3
Winner; Ron Killings
Prince Lawler challenging his Father never helped him tonight. Ron Killings was on fire tonight and after tonight’s performance Killings maybe one of the men to beat here in NWA-TNA.
Prince Lawler rolled straight out of the ring on to the apron. Lawler’s helpers were quickly at ringside dragging Lawler from the ring. Lawler was hoisted over the shoulder of one of the helpers and carried from ringside.
Ron Killings was outside the ring slapping hands with some fans in the front row and pounding his chest. Killings grabbed a microphone and made his way back up the aisle still slapping hands with the fans in the front row. Killings got to the top of the aisle turned back to the fans. Killings told the fans that tonight Prince Lawler learned that the truth hurts!!
NWA-TNA Reporter, Jeremy Borash was shown backstage NWA-TNA interview area where Borash announced the following names that would debut on next weeks Pay per View, Christian York, Joey Matthews and Norman Smiley. Borash also reminded the fans that former NWA World Champion Harley Race would make an announcement and next weeks Main Event will be revealed before tonight’s Main Event but up next one of the biggest stars currently in NWA-TNA, Jeff Jarrett makes his debut against newcomer ‘Wildcat’ Chris Harris…
(G) Up Next; Chris Harris V Jeff Jarrett…
(RI) Chris Harris wearing a smart suite with his hair wet back in a pony tail spoke well about how the wrestling world were buzzing about the arrival of NWA-TNA and tonight he’s sure many fans will be tuning in to check out the fresh talent see what everyone has to offer. Harris said he would love to tell the fans that he was the best in the world or guarantee that he would become the first TNA Champion or the next great NWA World Champion but the truth is Harris doesn’t even know just how good he is yet. Harris and the wrestling world learns that tonight when he takes on Jeff Jarrett arguably the biggest star in NWA-TNA at the minute, Jarrett’s been a champion where ever he’s been like Jarrett’s attitude or not you have to respect Jarrett’s talents and Chris Harris does. Chris Harris told the fans that whatever the outcome tonight win, lose or draw he’s only going to get better and one day he would like to think he will have the honor of being the TNA Champion! Harris flashed a whiter than white toothy smile and winked at the camera to finish up…
Don West asked Mike Tenay if he believed Chris Harris was being genuine. Tenay told West that he wasn’t sure saying that they would find out soon enough.
(RI) Jeff Jarrett believes that if you wrote down every one signed to NWA-TNA his name would stand out because without question he is the biggest star in the NWA-TNA. Jarrett thinks it’s a joke and disrespectful to him that he’s not in the Main Event tonight but if Jarrett has his way by the time the night is over everyone will be talking about Jeff Jarrett. Choke on that, Slap nuts!!
Match 5; Chris Harris V Jeff Jarrett
Time Limit; 15 Minutes
Jeff Jarrett came out with his trademark acoustic guitar. During the match Ricky Steamboat made his way into the aisle with an official and ordered the official to go collect Jarrett’s acoustic which the official did who handed the acoustic back to Jarrett. Jarrett watched as Steamboat made his way backstage with his acoustic…
Chris Harris attempted one of his favored moves Catatonic a swinging uranage but Jarrett landed on his feet grabbed Harris by the hair and sent Harris shoulder first into the steel turnbuckle. Jarrett pulled the lifeless Harris from the corner and finished Harris off with his Stroke.
Winner; Jeff Jarrett
Chris Harris stayed with Jarrett throughout the match but only really on one occasion came close to scoring a huge upset and the biggest victory of his career after Harris shocked Jarrett with a vicious Spear which brought a very close near fall.
Jeff Jarrett was on his game apart from the one scare from Chris Harris’, Spear. Jarrett gave a very professional performance showing why he and many others believe Jeff Jarrett maybe the best NWA-TNA has to offer.
Jeff Jarrett casually allowed the official to raise his hand in victory while looking up the aisle for Ricky Steamboat who had possession of one of his acoustic guitars. Jarrett brushed Steamboat’s actions off before celebrating by doing the Jarrett strut and motioning for NWA-TNA Championship gold.
Chris Harris was sitting up in the ring being checked over by doctors they had an ice pack on Harris left shoulder. Harris was shaking his head trying to clear the cobwebs. Doctors left the ring expecting Harris to follow but ‘Wildcat’ slowly got back to his feet and confronted Jeff Jarrett who was smirking in Harris face. Jarrett’s theme cut off. Chris Harris offered his hand to Jeff Jarrett but Jarrett just turned his back and carried on celebrating his victory on the turnbuckles. Harris looked disappointed as he rolled out of the ring.
Mike Tenay believed it was a good call Ricky Steamboat confiscating Jeff Jarrett’s acoustic guitar from ringside while Don West believed Steamboat just have gave Jarrett the benefit of the doubt and stayed out of Jeff Jarrett’s business.
(G) Up Next; Jimmy Yang V Sonny Siaki…
(RI) Jimmy Yang’s opinion is that Jimmy Yang was one of the last great things in World Championship Wrestling and now he is going to be one of the first great things in NWA-TNA. This time for Yang it’s not about rebuilding a division it’s all about Jimmy Yang!
(RI) Sonny Siaki was wearing a shirt open showing off his impressive body and dark shades. Siaki told the camera to take a good look at his face. Siaki told the fans to get used to seeing his face on Pay per View each and every week. Siaki even went as far to say that his face would be the face of NWA-TNA! Enjoy me!
Match 6; Jimmy Yang V Sonny Siaki
Time Limit; 15 Minutes
Jimmy Yang was rocking Sonny Siaki with a number of kicks. Yang took Siaki down with a spinning heel kick from the middle turnbuckle before heading up top. Yang came off the top rope catching Siaki with a crossbody into the cover but Siaki rolled through and ended up on top of Yang which surprised Yang enough for Siaki to hold Yang down the count.
Winner; Sonny Siaki
Sonny Siaki dodged a bullet tonight, Jimmy Yang it seemed was on his way to victory only for Siaki to surprise Yang and score a huge victory which let everyone know that Sonny Siaki has game and can’t be taken lightly.
Sonny Siaki rolled straight out of the ring dropping off the apron and getting straight to his knees and let out a scream while raising his arms in victory as Jimmy Yang was on his knees in the ring arguing the decision with the official believing that Siaki may have hold of his tights.
Replays showed Siaki never had hold of Jimmy Yang’s tights; Siaki just caught Yang off guard. After the replay had aired Siaki was making his way back up the aisle telling the fans to enjoy him and get used to seeing his face.
Mike Tenay said it seems we would have to get used to Sonny Siaki’s face because Tenay had just been informed about next weeks Main Event but they would announce next weeks Main Event after this video looking at tonight’s activities…
(V) Jerry Lynn beat AJ Styles in tonight’s opening contest. Lynn came away with the victory after countering a reverse DDT from AJ into a jackknife cradle. AJ Styles even in defeat impressed. Tennessee Cowboy, James Storm beat the best Funk of them all, Alan Funk using his Eye of the Storm. Konnan and Psicosis overcame Lenny Lane and David Young, Psicosis pinned Young with his Guillotine Leg Drop after Konnan took care of Lane. Ron Killings showed Prince Lawler that the truth does indeed hurt after Killings dominated Lawler before finishing Lawler off with a sit out gordbuster. Jeff Jarrett disappointed about not being in tonight’s Main Event pinned ‘Wildcat’ Chris Harris, Ricky Steamboat had an official take Jeff Jarrett’s acoustic guitar from ringside. Harris came close after a Spear but in the end Jarrett took care of Harris after spiking him with his Stroke. Sonny Siaki scored the biggest victory of his career just when it seemed Siaki was on his way to defeat against Jimmy Yang, Siaki reversed a top rope crossbody into a pin fall off his own leaving Yang arguing the decision.
Mike Tenay and Don West were shown at ringside both were thrilled with tonight’s show saying many men looked promising which means good things for the future of NWA-TNA. Tenay then introduced a graphic announcing next weeks Main Event…
(G) Wednesday 26th June 2002: NWA-TNA #2: Main Event; 10 Man Tag Team Match: Jerry Lynn, Konnan, Psicosis, James Storm and Ron Killings V Prince Lawler, Christian York, Joey Matthews, Sonny Siaki and Jeff Jarrett!
Huge Main Event signed for next weeks show featuring ten of the biggest most talented stars in NWA-TNA today but up next its time for the first NWA-TNA Main Event pitting Low-Ki against Steve Corino…
(G) Up Next; Tonight’s Main Event: Low-Ki V Steve Corino…
Low-Ki was shown about to leave his locker room doing last minute stretches against the door only to stop to take a couple of deep breaths and get focused before going out for the biggest match of his career…
Steve Corino was standing behind the entrance way looking focused just staring at the entrance way before taking a drink of water from a bottle and pouring the rest of the water over his head…
(RI) Steve Corino said he wasn’t going to tell the fans or anyone else just how could he is, hopefully the fans aren’t that stupid. Corino did reveal though that there was no one in NWA-TNA who wants success more than he does and no man will be as ruthless in going after the NWA World Championship and TNA Championship as him. On Low-Ki, Corino said Low-Ki was awesome he’s been watching Low-Ki for years. Low-Ki’s from another world but tonight it’s not about Low-Ki it’s about Steve Corino.
(RI) Low-Ki just stared into the camera and then in an unexpected deep voice Low-Ki told everyone to prepare themselves to witness something they have never witnessed before!
Match 7; Main Event
Low-Ki V Steve Corino
Time Limit; 30 Minutes
Steve Corino back dropped Low-Ki over the top rope but Low-Ki landed on the apron and quickly smashed Corino with a knee to the face after spring boarding up on to and off the top rope. Low-Ki went into the zone, Corino was up but he was rocked again this time with a middle rope springboard roundhouse kick! Low-Ki has got Steve Corino right where he wants him, Corino used the ropes to back to his feet but was again met by a running missile dropkick to the chest from Low-Ki sending Corino crashing into the middle turnbuckle, Corino’s head snapped back horribly of the middle turnbuckle. The match official looked worried. LOW-KI, LOW-KI, Corino was dazed seeing stars as Low-Ki went up top. Corino was under the turnbuckle where Low-Ki was waiting, Corino managed to get back to his feet but was bent forward as Low-Ki came off the top and landed right on the back of Corino’s head and neck with a mushroom stomp. Corino’s hurt! Laying face down battered and holding the back of his neck but Low-Ki wasn’t finished and the fans were on their feet for wrestling’s best kept secret! Low-Ki with his thumb slashed his throat letting the fans no he was looking to finish. Low-Ki dragged Corino off his feet and spiked Corino with his Ki-Krusher!! Corino again landing on the back of his neck but straight into a pinning predicament, Steve Corino was out cold as Low-Ki held Corino down for the victory.
Winner; Low-Ki
Low-Ki made a statement tonight, leaving a lasting impression on everyone that witnessed his destruction of Steve Corino one of the biggest names signed to NWA-TNA. Low-Ki the much smaller of the two, took Steve Corino.
Don West was on his feet at ringside applauding Low-Ki’s’ performance, Tenay told West to keep it professional West got caught up in the moment telling Tenay that Low-Ki was something special which Tenay agreed with. Tenay has sat at ringside and seen many greats wrestle before him but no one has impressed him as much as Low-Ki on first sight.
Fans were bouncing celebrating Low-Ki’s victory who didn’t seem fazed by the reaction. Low-Ki had his hand raised in victory before climbing the turnbuckle, one foot on the top turnbuckle the other on the middle turnbuckle looking out at the crowd.
Steve Corino hadn’t moved was still lying in the middle of the ring which the match official kneeling over Corino.
Replays aired showing Low-Ki take Steve Corino apart with the flying knee of the top rope, followed by a springboard roundhouse kick then a running dropkick, a mushroom stomp from the top rope right on the back of Corino’s head and neck before Low-Ki finished Corino with his Ki-Krusher.

Tonight’s show went off the air with a close up of Low-Ki as Low-Ki stared around the Martin Van Buern Arena to a standing ovation. NWA-TNA and Low-Ki hopefully got everyone’s attention tonight!

Lawler told everyone associated with NWA-TNA that he wants to be treated like royalty and tonight he’s going to make Ron Killings a street thug bow down to the Prince of wrestling!
