On the the 3rd Sunday of the year 2007, HBO sports will introduce sports entertainment to a new plateau. In an industry marred with staleness, repetition & restrictions, an evolution is necessary. There are hundreds upon hundreds of organizations all over the world, operating year to year, some day to day. These companies are the reason “professional wrestling” has fallen from grace. The “major” feds & the “indies” that make no attempt to shy away from the stereotypes & insignificances that overshadow sports entertainment, have turned this industry into more of a tongue in cheek joke, than a world reknowned source of athletics & entertainment.
The dark cloud will be lifted, on the 21st of January, in the year 2007. HBO proudly presents, “the wrestling chronicles.”
Since it’s inception, HBO has made no attempts to hide the fact that they are willing to use the public relations muscle, as well as, their deep pockets, in regard to “the wrestling chronicles.” The critically acclaimed home of some of cable’s most successful original programming, has already order 2 more seasons of “the wrestling chronicles” to follow the initial season. “the wrestling chronicles” will take two separate one & a half month hiatus’ from the show, every year. One during the summer months & one during the winter holidays. As it stands now, HBO intends on running two four & a half month seasons a year. That would mean somewhere around 18 episodes per season. Most of the performers have signed on for three seasons of the show, but there are exceptions who have signed on for one season, and will renogiate their contracts upon the conclusion of season one.
Also, the venue selected for the premiere of “the wrestling chronicles” was recently announced to be none other than one of the worlds most famous sporting venues, the home of the New York Yankees, Yankee Stadium in New York! In what was regarded by many industry sources as the main reason HBO ordered two more seasons of the show before the debut, less than two weeks ago, 60,000 tickets we’re made available to the public, and “Episode I” of “the wrestling chronicles” sold out Yankee Stadium in under 2 hours. 5,000 more tickets will soon be made available for public purchase & another 5,000 or so will be made available to VIP customers only.
To fully understand the direction HBO intends on taking athletics & entertainment, one would have to witness it first hand. For those hoping for a glance of things to come, HBO.com has sent out a press release in anticipation of the intended January debut.
