It’s that time of year again. A time when blood flows from the open wounds of professional wrestlers like faucets turned on full blast, the carnival of the macabre, the celebration of blood lust.. The 3rd Annual WCWA King of the Death Matches! The venue for the King of the Death Matches has in past years been almost as important as the tournament itself. The first tournament made history, bringing the blood and guts back to Philadelphia, a city that made the gore famous, this time brought live to a worldwide audience on Pay Per View.
Last year’s King of the Death Matches venue will forever be eched into the minds of WCWA fans, the iconic field that played host to one of the most violent nights of professional wrestling ever. Last year, it was an outside venue in Delaware that played host to the violence, providing a concert like atmosphere as several WCWA stars made their debuts.. The two debuts that will forever lay in legend were Brain Damage and the Necro Butcher, who violated each other in one of history’s most violent staple gun matches of all time, as Necro & Damage stapled each other in places previously unthought of, and also brawled in the glass filled, thumbtack laden, blood spattered mud that had surrounded ringside thanks to down pouring rains for the first half of the show.
This year’s King of the Death Matches moves out of the East Coast on April 1st 2006, as WCWA brings the return to the United States to one of three United States cities. WCWA management has been looking at venues across the country, and would like to hear feedback from the loyal fans.
Outside of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico
WCWA has found a prime area in the New Mexican desert just outside of Truth or Consequences that could provide an amazing environment for the violence for the sake of violence and bloodshed for the sake of bloodshed. New Mexico also is close to WCWA headquarters in Las Vegas, an area that has held more WCWA Pay Per Views.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
The great cheese state of Wisconsin have made it perfectly clear that should WCWA choose to hold the King of the Death Matches in their state, we will be more than welcome. The Bradley Center in Milwaukee have stated that they have absolutely no issues with us running a show like King of the Death Matches in their venue, completely understanding the amount of blood, glass, and other paraphernalia that comes with King of the Death Matches. The night after King of the Death Matches, another wrestling group based out of Stamford will be holding their yearly biggest event in Chicago, Illinois at the Allstate Arena, which is entirely possible to make it to both shows, should fans of both groups choose to do so. I’m not sure why people would WANT to see an aging billionaire face a balding “teen icon”, especially after viewing the brutality of King of the Death Matches, but that can be their choice as fans.
Fresno, California
The SaveMart Center in Fresno, California have made similar statements to the ones the Bradley Center issued, saying they have absolutely no problems with the glass, blood, and violence in their venue. Southern California has been a former hotbed for death match wrestling for another company. And if XPW can draw a good crowd for shitty wrestling, WCWA should be able to draw a great crowd for the best representation of death match wrestling today.
It’s up to you, the fans of WCWA, to sway the vote for one of these venues. West Coast fans, Midwest fans.. It’s your chance to get the biggest and bloodiest WCWA event of the year in your town. We will release a press statement in the coming weeks with an official announcement of the venue, as well as a bit of a sneak peak into the violence that you can expect from the 3rd annual King of the Death Matches!
