Those who ordered the pay-per-view telecast of Redemption gained a glimpse at the new vision of professional wrestling on Charlottesville Wrestling Federation's Mayhem brand.
One of the points of emphasis was the new "lucha rules" affecting tag matches. No longer does a partner have to keep the tag rope in hand and actually make tag in to enter the match. Instead, if a team member exits the ring, another is free to enter. These rules date back years in the rich history of lucha libre, and two wrestlers emerging from that heritage are looking to take advantage.
Those men are Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio Jr.
They believe their foundation in Mexico's lucha libre leagues gives them an edge in tag action on Mayhem. Rey Mysterio is particularly determined to prove himself after compiling a disappointing record in singles competition to this point.
Guerrero and Mysterio have requested a tag team match on tonight's premier episode, and they'll face a tremendous challenge in their first match as a team in the CWF.
The opponents? Former tag champions D'Lo Brown and Mark Henry. This duo just missed out on reclaiming their belts at Redemption, and is angry and fired up to exorcise some frustrations tonight.
Be sure and tune into Mayhem later this evening, as Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio face D'Lo Brown and Mark Henry in tag team action!

unfortunately, I didn't order the Mayhem PPV. I'm hoping to find someone trading a bootleg copy of it soon. With the economy the way it is, $34.99 for a PPV is just too much for me lucha rules are neat. It sort of disables the southern tag format, which should be interesting..
