Ok Tenn its been a while on your series but I've never had a problem reminding myself of whats going on. You do a very good job of filling in the blanks every time out so this should be no different. Lets get it started.
Video package I loved the dark tone the package relayed to us. I can only hope for something dark, twisted and evil happening on a show with this video package and on a show called Redemption. It has that biblical feel to it.
Kurt Angle vs. Dean Malenko:
What an opener. Out of all the shows I’ve reviewed nobody had an opener that set the tone for the evening like this. THIS is what a tournament is all about, THIS is how you book a tournament. Both men were so hungry for this win you could FEEL it. If your going to have a tournament and if your going to offer something in that tournament, make sure that the men wrestling for the prize look like they can’t live without it. You did just that sir. I loved all of the near falls I really was thinking somehow Dean Malenko would pull this out even though my brain tells me Kurt is going all the way. Fantastic opener and it might be I hate to say it but it might be the best match I’ve read so far.
RVD being RVD I’d say you have this man down pretty well but then again is it that hard to write an RVD promo? None the less nice update to those of us that need some brushing up on whats going on with RVD.
2. Rob Van Dam vs. Mystery Opponent:
I have to say I was disappointed in Regal being the mystery guy. I wasn’t sure who you’d pull out but Regal just didn’t excite me like he was supposed to here. The match was very good but things didn’t kick into high gear until Taz showed up and destroyed everything in his path. Taz really was more of a shock than his opponent and I enjoyed Taz more than I did his opponent.
3. The Gauntlet Match for the I-C Title:
I didn’t really connect with this match as well as I should have. A lot of the guys in this match just seemed to sort of be there. However when Shamrock won that made things right. I wasn’t buying Big Show winning this thing but I was hoping Gunn wouldn’t either so when Shamrock got the win it made me happy. The match wasn’t bad just tough to really follow at times as these matches can be on occasion.
Bulldog & Regal Backstage: These two would actually serve well to the tag team scene if you went that route. I’d much prefer them in a tag team power and precision so to speak.
4. Cruiserweight Title Mayhem:
This thing was CRAZY good. Everybody was all over the place and you really didn’t lose me in the action like I feared you would. I loved almost everyone involved in this and then the unthinkable happens. Justin Credible wins? I mean really I don’t mind Justin but is he really the guy you want to flagship the greatest high flying, breath taking, jaw dropping action on the planet? I’m sure your going somewhere and you being Tenn I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt but if you were damn near anyone else I’d be going into a fit right about now : )
Stephanie McMahon in the CWF. On one hand I never thought I’d see the day, on the other its ABOUT DAMN TIME!
Goldust promo. I liked the movie quotes a lot, I also liked Big Show destroying him.
Credible promo was good, Chavo well it wasn’t as good. Still though it sets up Chavo vs. Credible, unfortuntaly I think we’re going to go the JC is a fighting champion that is proving he’s on the others level story and well that just kills my hopes of a very short title reign.
Tag Titles match
Very dramatic match, TONS of nearfalls maybe more than in the first match. Very good match. I think the thing that makes this match most interesting is you have taken six guys that I really wouldn’t give a shit about under normal circumstances. I like D LO but my point is you made this match entertaining, interesting, dramatic things I didn’t think would be capable. I didn’t really care for the finish Hakushi powerbombing D LO into the turnbuckle? Just felt like a let down.
Above & Beyond Finals – RVD vs. Angle:
Here we are my friend. It seems like this tournament has been going on forever and I can’t say I expected any less than these two in the finals. AMAZING match and this is now taking the place of Malenko and Angle as the best match I’ve reviewed. This match had everything I expected and then even more. RVD went over and rightfully so, it was a win win for whoever went over. This match has me shouting encore!
Sabut vs. Benoit
WHAT…………….THE………………FUCK! I’m in shock here I was thinking that Benoit was about to become the CWF World Champion after all his work to get here and he joins them. I don’t even know what to say. I’m very shocked but in a very good way. Man this is something I didn’t see coming. And now TAZ!!!!!! Win if Sabu can, SURVIVE if he lets you!!!!
Taz vs. Sabu
I don’t even know if I can review this I didn’t expect this. This match was unlike anything else on the card. It was wild, crazy, chaotic brawl. This main event summed up the whole night for me with an unpredictable ending. Taz has come out of nowhere to be a huge player in this new landscape.
Overall:
So Angle vs. Malenko and RVD vs. Angle were above and beyond pun intended the best matches of the night. The stories were right on point, and a lot of the matches didn’t really disappoint. I know the themes of the night were anything can happen, unpredictable chaos and so on. However it just got to be a bit much for me. Triple threat tag team match, multiple man cruiserweight match, RVD vs. Regal turning into Taz vs. Bulldog, The Gauntlent match. There was a feeling of too many guys being shoved into too little of a space here. The good surprises were the finals of the A and E tourney and the Benoit turn. Like I said I loved the Stephanie cameo, I loved a lot of the stories and direction. The only thing I didn’t care for was how many guys were doing so many crazy things in so little of a space. I know you wanted this to be a giant unpredictable brawl but sometimes it reads like a wild unpredictable chaotic brawl and that’s hard to follow at times. I still loved the show no doubt and I loved the stories, I’m just hoping this isn’t par for the course having all of these guys crammed into so little of matches. Again though a fantastic show that delivered two of the best matches and the most shocking turn I’ve read since my “return”. Great show, just not Tenn’s greatest show.
P.S everyone on here has had atleast one review from me now so I'm going to focus on my own work now. If you post a new show I'll get to it be rest assured but until then I'm not focusing on getting my own stuff out there so all of these people that are pissed at me for the reviews can cut my show down and give me writing advice
