Ok well your next on the list and this will be the first time in forever I’ve reviewed a show I know nothing about the promotion, the characters, the writer basically I’m completely blind. It’ll be up to you to fill in my blanks since I’m not going backwards to read anything else right now. Please don’t take offense to anything I write in my review its just my opinions and on occasion my suggestions. If I say something that upsets you hit me up in PM and we’ll discuss it but I doubt we’ll have an issue. Ok with that little disclaimer on with the show.
Austin/ Cena and HHH/Hogan on free t.v, I have no idea if your shows are normally packed with two wrestlemania like main events but so far I’m liking what I’m hearing lets see the delivery.
Opening Promo very solid opening promo. Vince was written fairly well, the only complaint I have and this is just something personal I hate the whole I was a “babyface” and a “heel”. Lets keep SOME kayfabe in the building. I think I know what you meant when you wrote it but if you want to get across something like that wouldn’t it be better to write “ Hulkamania has done it all brother in the WWF we beat Giants, Warriors, Savages and anybody else that stood in the way of Hulkamania. In the Dubya Cee Dubya I created the greatest group of wrestlers ever assembled, more championships, more money, more fame than the Horseman, than the Coroporation, than DX, than anyone brother”. Something along those lines that way your not coming right out and saying hey I was good and then I was bad. None the less I didn’t mind the Austin thing it was a bit 1998 Austin but hey fuck it right. It was entertaining that’s all that matters that and it set up the main events nicely.
Taker vs. Shelton
Damn dude this was actually a well written out match, I liked the pacing, I liked the spots and of course the right guy went over. This was a very well written match. Damn Taz choking out the Taker, although that might look a bit silly if it was actually done I liked how Taz showed very little fear in going after the biggest man there is and then CHALLENGING him. Taz has balls and I like them. You know in a non homosexual ball liking kind of way.
RVD and Sabu vs. Money Inc.
The match was everything it could be basically just RVD and Sabu getting their spots in while at the same time making Money Inc look credible. I liked the Hardy’s coming out after the match more than anything. Those four men would put some asses in the seats in a tag match. The match was a good preview of what you’d get with RVD and Sabu. That way with the Hardy’s making the challenge the fans know it’ll be high flying, high octane, extreme action another nicely done segment.
Hogan vs. HHH
I didn’t mind the match but I HATED this ending. It seems like the ending was just too contrived for me. I’m all for mystery and suspense but after every match or during this match someone has ran down to screw with someone or to make a challenge. I think that if HHH cheated to win or if you wanted Hogan to win you could have had Steph accidently interfere. Hell if you wanted Bret involved maybe scale back on some of the other stuff. It seems like after every match we’re setting up a match for the ppv which can get a bit of a paint by numbers feel going for it.
I do like the idea of Bret getting screwed by DX but now I’m confused. Bret screwed over HHH really for no reason, I mean it basically showed Hogan had lost and Bret cost HHH the match. Now HHH who beats up Hogan is going to face Bret next week. Do we cheer the guy who cheated for Hogan to win? Or do we cheer the guy that cheats for himself to win all the time? Just pretty confusing and I’m not sure I like that. If you wanted to book DX vs. Hart maybe make it so that DX did something wrong and Bret Hart came back as the white knight to get justice, instead it’d be like someone walking up to you on the street and punching you in the face because you were rude to them 11 years ago. It’d be a bit too random.
Cena vs. Austin
I see what your doing your setting up DX vs. Hart and Cena vs. Rock while at the same time doing Hogan vs. Austin, so you have all these dream matches for your Showcase which I’m assuming is your biggest ppv of the year. I didn’t mind this match at all in fact it was the best match of the night. But again you got a babyface screwing over a heel. I mean that’s two matches in a row the heel was looking like he might win and the babyface has come in and cost him the match. I get what your doing but I think this all is a tad rushed. However leaving that out of it this was a very well written and built up match with plenty of drama to it.
Overall
Overall this show was good and everyone should be reading your show. I hate to say it but your show was better than I expected it would be. I’ve read some shows in the past that weren’t even as long as this review. I was shocked and surprised at how good you were. I think you need time to flesh out your stories and characters but everything I read was good or was well on its way to being good. My only complaint is slow things down a bit, interference in every match and a million challenges gets crazy to keep track of. Use more promos and backstage segments to build up characters and stories so that way one segment doesn’t have ten stories being thrown at it ya know what I mean? That would be my suggestion backstage skits, sit down interviews, promo’s more of those things to showcase more talent and to build up your stories in a less rushed manor would be the things I would suggest to you. Still though great show and I’m already looking forward to your pay per view. You did a great job letting me know what stories there were without me ever even hearing from you before. That in itself is something a lot of people don’t think to do. You let me in on the stories via match introductions and commentary very slick, very subtle and I liked it. So at the end of the day I’m waiting on your next show with excitement.
P.S next up is Trips 15’s Wrestlemania, that’s a bit time show and a big time word since the only two Wrestlemania’s I’ve read in Fantasy BOOKing were pretty much the peak of their authors respective careers. But hey no pressure right
