Im alot late on a promised review for my boy Tenn’s CWF Redemption. Shit happens but a promise is a promise, so get ready.
-Opening sequence was top notch in my opinion. It looked like something I could see on real TV which is what puts you in a small group of guys who can do that. Added to the drama of the show too & Im into it big time.
-A&B Semifinal: Angle v Malenko: This was a full on great wrestling match between these 2. I didn’t see Malenko winning before it started but I thought you did great by making it seem like Malenko just might score the upset. If this was real P-P-V this probably would be match of the night before 8:15. Awesome match & Im more into the show than ever before. ***1/2
Rob backstage was well done pretty much on par for a RVD promo.
-RVD v Regal: Regal’s a great choice for mystery opponent!! I pictured the present William Regal even though I know it’s 99 in the CWF. This is the 2nd great match out of 2 on this show & it seems you’re pushin for a wrestling heavy night. Wow Regal wins with the knucks, I didn’t see that happening, so I’m 1 for 2. Bulldog & Regal have an alliance, could be interesting. From Tenn extremely interesting. Taz surprises everyone & cleans some clocks! Feels like Rumble 2000 with Taz kickin the shit out of Angle, I loved this. Taz seems way over right away. ***
-Taz vs. Bulldog impromptu match: Taz wins by submission & Taz is over really strong! Big plans for Taz have gotta be in the works with a segment this big for him. I see Bulldog getting another match with him when there’s not as much surprise factor, Bulldog I think is still protected there & that’s good. Great segment.
I don’t remember seeing Lash do promos in WCW so this feels like the 1st time. Is this how he talked? Like a mix between a rapper & a old guy. Funny shit here no doubt. And you found something else for him to do. Thank god he’s not maining this show though.
-Gauntlet IC Title Match: I really thought Big Show had this one before this match. Then when I saw how dominant he was I thought “Show’s getting a big push here, maybe a big run, like they do in Rumbles when they wanna get guys really over.” But then I got swerved seeing Shamrock take it in the end. I gotta say that one had me stunned but I’m liking the result. **1/2
Regal & Smith are Rule Brittania. They’ll be treated like kings in the UK for that
-Cruiserweight Title Mayhem: This was an exciting match like something right out of WCW circa 97 except the moves were more meaningful. Speaking of meaningful check out the ending to the match with Credible unmasking & winning the gold. I wanna see him in 1 on 1 defenses against all those other guys in the coming weeks. ***
Stephanie’s in CWF now. I sure hope I’m not gonna regret that. Vince was classic Vince here & very few guys, 1 or 2 at the most can capture these kinds of characters this well. I laughed out loud at this promo
I freakin love Goldust in this segment
-Triple threat Tag Titles: Another multiperson match tonight, making sure all the talent is well exposed. That’s not easy with a roster like CWF’s even with a brand split. I expected the titles to stay home tonight & I was right, which is good here. Like the tease at the end. **1/2
Solid Angle promo capturing Kurt’s character greatly
-A&B Finals: Angle v RVD: This will have to be a MOTY candidate for me personally. This was just awesome. I picked RVD beforehand then flipflopped halfway in, then back again. The wrestling was just great & it was dramatic. Should’ve stuck with my 1st choice. Awesome moment for RVD even though I woulda had him go 2-0 on a night like this. ***3/4
Loving this new show coming up, good promo. How slowly is CWF gonna post now? Who cares, I still can’t wait
-World Title: Sabu[c] v Benoit: What the hell, so this match isn’t happening? McMahon seemed like he was only buying time but instead he bought Benoit! That’s a big swerve for P-P-V. Loved Taz coming in & getting the match with Sabu instead. We just saw 3 different world title combinations tonight, this one gets a green light & Taz wins the gold! Wow I thought he was gonna be over big in the fed after seeing him debut. But I did not see this one coming. Taz is the new champ, what a way to end the night. *** for this whole finale
OVERALL: So it looked like you were starting out with a wrestling heavy show with staright up matches 1 by 1. But by the time the night was over we saw lots of big angles & swerves. I like the way you kept things coming unexpectedly even though it became a whole different show than what I thought it was gonna be after seeing the first 2 matches. But I stayed entertained the whole show & it proved why Im always excited when new shows go up from you or the den man. I thought this was the most swerve heavy P-P-V you’ve done, so I don’t know if you’re going more that way or if the show just turned out that way. Great P-P-V for the fed & I can’t wait to see where you go next with some of the things that happened tonight like Taz as new champ (website gave it away), but also RVD, the Brits, Credible, & now the McMahon new purchase of Benoit! I overall give this show a solid 3.5 out of 4 stars once the promos were all added in. Hurry & post the next episode
