Review for Jay Entertainment RAW IS WAR, September 3, 2007
First things first… I am wondering how I feel about RAW going back to his ‘simplistic’ style of not a huge, fancy stage but rather the over blown Titan-Tron. I understand your intentions behind doing it (I assume to give back the feeling of the attitude era) but it seems like a step back.
So Bret Hart is back eh? Should be interesting to see where that goes.
Now something really bothers me about this whole D-Generation X dying promo from HBK and HHH… it seems that Triple H will once again become a tool for Shawn Michaels just like back in 1997. Michaels mentions that he will have the WWF Championship around his waist… and Triple H just accepts him saying that? No “I don’t think so, Shawn, I’m going to be the next WWF Champion”? Onto Bret Hart; looking forward to HBK vs. Hart down the future.
Austin and partner vs. HHH and HBK perhaps? Sounds alright.
Ken Shamrock vs. RVD – Eh decent match up. It wasn’t all that thrilling like an opening match up should be. It just didn’t seem to click and flow well. It was also a bit short for my taste. There are so many things these two guys could do in the ring… I don’t know I just was expecting more.
2/4th of the Four horsemen are here.
Rated RKO vs. The Dudley Boys for next week sounds meh. Jericho vs. Sabu is more like it. I love battle royals so I’m looking forward to the 15 man battle royal. Cena vs. Shamrock is a feud I actually have done, though Cena had a different gimmick. Looking forward to it. Decent stipulation for tonight’s main event. Question – why is there a WWF Champion AND a World Champion? I say unify the titles.
The Undertaker vs. Elijah Burke- Strange to see the World Champion wrestling the second match of the night. Basically a squash match. Burke got minimal offense in, which was to be expected. Sucks that Burked jobbed out.
So the ECW brand is dead yet there will be an ECW Championship? Doesn’t make much sense but ok.
Jeff Hardy vs. John Morrison – Best match I’ve seen from you so far. Nicely paced match up, the ladder that was involved made the match better.
MVP vs. Jericho for next week sounds good.
Cena/Partner of his choice vs. Ken Shamrock/Partner of his choice sounds good for next week.
Meh Cena/Big Show confrontation.
John Cena vs. The Big Show – And the interference from Shamrock. The match itself was boring/bland. Shamrock interfering in the match up is a good way to build their feud. Show joining the Million Dollar Corporation is very “meh” to me but makes sense.
Shawn Michaels and Triple H vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin and Goldberg – Pretty decent main event actually. Kind of surprised Goldberg was Austin’s tag team partner. They practically look like twins so it makes sense for them to tag lol. Austin going to Survivor Series is pretty damn decent. Hope he wins.
Overall thoughts of show: It was… decent. A bit on the bland side. The matches weren’t the best but were quiet entertaining it. I’d give it a 6/10.
