Alright...whats up everybody? This is a review for J. Hobo...and before I get into it, I just want to say that I'm enjoying my time so far here at The Afterlife and it's great to keep writing...especially with something I have a passion for and that's BOOKing wrestling. Anyway, Hobo, I must say...you have a knack for this stuff...onto the review!!!
1. The Naptown Dragons {Scotty Vortekz & “Diehard” Dustin Lee} versus The Northstar Express {Darin Corbin & Ryan Cruz}
- Funny commentary. Isn't Mortimer Plumtree that douchebag I saw managing AJ Styles back in the day in TNA? He's a referee? This match is a very good, old school like tag match...and I marked out HUGE for the row-boat double team. My only problem, and that will probably happen with this entire card, is that I have no clue if these guys exist or if you made them up...I'm going to search the indy's online to see if they do.
2. JC Bailey © versus LuFisto - WCWA Death Match title match
- I've heard of Jimmy Jacobs somewhere, but can't put my finger on it. Commercial's on HBO? Damn, thats beat. And I pay good money for this shit?!? The skateboard spot was sick...never seen it or heard of it. I'm confused...what happened to the match? The Gertner interviews are ALWAYS entertaining. Keep that going, it works.
3. Jimmy Jacobs versus Delirious (International title tournament)
- AHHH! That's awesome...they come back to the ring to finish the match? I did NOT see that coming so soon! Nice, short match between these two..and this Delirious character is NUTS! Your writing style is very good, man. I like.
4. Beef Wellington versus Trent Acid (International title tournament)
- This Lufisto/JC stuff is great. Very good concept...but still, I have no idea who these people are and I don't know if that's good or bad yet. I have to read more of your stuff to figure it out. FINALLY! I know Trent Acid!!! I've seen him wrestle live before...hes pretty sick. Another pretty good match, and I am surprised that Trent picked up the win. Jannetty is hysterical. This Lufisto chick is tough...crazy f'n match, dude.
5. Brain Damage versus Sabian
- I didn't care much for this match. I guess it served its purpose, however. I mean, Hardcore Terminator...I get the gimmick, but does this dude have some sort of 'kryptonite'? What a way to end that Deathmatch. Unbelievably dangerous and kind of hard to believe, but still great drama and very creative ending. Thank you for that.
6. Chris Hero versus Necro Butcher (WCWA title tournament)
- I've heard of these two guys and this match was the match of the show. Brutal and served its purpose very, very well. Great way to end the show...and I've skimmed some of your stuff in the past, but this is the first show where I read every word, and I loved it.
Final Thoughts
- Great show, dude. I love your style...and it's a breath of fresh air to read some creative, hardcore craziness. For a build-up show, which technically it was, I give it a 8.5 out of 10...and the one and a half point is taken off because NOTHING is perfect..and most of these people I have never seen or heard of.
And much props to Robert doing the commentary. VERY witty and entertaining for the most part. Keep this series going strong, my friend
Peace.
