Hello, Tenn.
Time for the reviewing, indeed. If you wish to pay back, my Nitro is looking awfully lonely
- I'd be lying if I said opening with Hardcore Holly got me psyched for the card, but I liked the old school promo, complete with the 1980's equivalent of 'asshole' - LOSER.
- Looking forward to the draft, if only because I think the SMW roster is kinda flawed right now. I know it's an old school promotion, but Holly, Bossman, Gangrel? It feels like the undercard to a 1999 WWF PPV.
- Digging the [CUT] stuff, that's a good innovation. Good way to translate how wrestling is broadcast, and it's something I'd reccomend everyone does. Just don't write it [CUT] or else it looks like you stole it from Tenn.
- Dug the Leviathan segment. I like Bossman as his handler, but I'm hoping this all leads to a quick 'Leviathan kills Bossman' angle.
- I like La Parka in absolutely any form, but I didn't really buy Lita's dialogue. I honestly don't think she could speak that coherantly.
- Dug the Bulldogs/EC match, nice solid shizzle. It was paced really well, and for a seventeen minute match there didn't appear to be too much downtime. Also dug Callis commentary in this match, and the rest of the card. For some reason 'Fatboy Finnegan' made me laugh.
- I hate Teddy Long. I hate the idea of Teddy Long managing Sean O'Haire, who was more entertaining in his 2 month WWE run than Teddy Long has been ever. I hate Teddy Long.
- Didn't really like the IDEA of Bossman/Bigelow, but the match was great. Loved the Bigelow press-slam comeback, good spot.
- BIGELOW GOT STABBEDTASERED!@# Hell yes. Digging all this Leviathan/Crazy Fan stuff. Though in your commentary you said it's 'That Same Gothic Fan', but I don't remember anything involving him in the past?
- Storm/Kash was another solid match on a card full of solid matches. Easily the best technically, but I'm a mark for the big fellas so I'll take Bigelow/Bossman.
- I'm glad Corino won the main event, and I thought Scorpio was a solid addition to the match, but I don't know, none of this really appeals to me personally. This is strictly my subjective opinion, but as a guy who prefers good angles to good matches, I find SMW kinda dull. Things like the Leviathan angle are great, but I just don't really get into much else.
I know you're going for an old school feel, and you're definitely succeeding, but I just don't enjoy this as much as CWF. Part of it has to do with the weird roster, part of it with the lack of angles, and part of it has to do with weird pairings like Lita/Parka and Teddy Long managing two excellent talkers. You have so much talent in this fed but it just seems constrained by how you're booking it atm. Hopefully the draft mixes things up a bit.
But, as I said, the matches were solid, the card itself was coherant and booked well, but just needed way more sizzle.
