Before I share my opinion's on Tommy's card, let me just say, Tommy is one of the few people here who's cards I am willing to read, without any incentive to myself. On that note, I'm going to be brutally honest with my opinion's about things, the good and the bad, as I'm sure that Aussie trickster would do the same in reviewing my cards. If I skip anything, or if things seem out of order a bit, it's because I am very high right now;
-First off, though there is no direct association between your angles and the film, I like the Kill Bill schtick.
-The opening segment, reaffirming the major storyline, was well done. The sting voiceover, the heartbeat etc. I'm personally not a fan of WCW or Sting, and I certainly am not a fan of the big bald Jew, but I do believe that in BOOK, it's important to add ones own views of a character, to the characters they are using, and I think your heel Sting works well. I also like the tweener Bischoff, where he almost becomes a sympathetic character because of the fact that he is backed into a corner.
-I'm digging the Lex Luger kidnapping! I can't stand Luger. Never could. I think he's a fucking mess, and I think the angle you have him in right now is probably the best angle anyone, WWE, WCW, BOOK, etc. etc., has ever had this jerk off in. Sting & Bischoff's individual reactions feed the angle very well. This has the potential to be comedic, but not entirely in a blowoff, comic relief kind of way, which is a must, if you want your main storyline to be taken seriously.
-Darkside is a nice faction...Booker's involvement doesn't really seem to fit this group, but I'm sure there is mroe to that than meets the eye. I love that you have Vampiro in there. There are a lot of different things that you can do with his character.
-The RVD/Kidman feud could get interesting. My opinion, involve as much sexual and drug related references as possible. Kidman doesn't have much charisma & RVD is fairly limited with his skills, but they both have the look and style to get over.
-LONG LIVE JAKE ROBERTS! If he was 10 or 15 years younger, he'd be a main eventer in my book. I like the association with Sting. Damien should come back, and swallow Goldberg. Then they should set Damien free in the Congo, where Damien would shit Goldberg's carcass out into the jungle, where the monkey from Outbreak would attack Goldberg and infect him with Super AIDS.
-Meng & Evan Karagias! This is what I am fucking talking about right here! Taking people, and making them your own. Meng, Karagias, the kidnapping, fucking Stockholm!! Good stuff! Not just because of what you had on Nitro, but because I think you are gong to do some very sexy things with this angle. Short, but overflowing with potential.
-DDP & Piper: Piper's fun in small doses, Page is a cunt mouthed piece of trash. The Second Wave thing doesn't really hold my interest either.
-Mexicans: I'm sure it's a very delightful angle, with the lWo's and all that, but I generally am not a fan of Mexicans, so I will not share my opinions on this angle.
-Sting/"Hero" Package: I love the use of music,not "wrestling" music, but real music, to eccentuate angles. The use of Kroeger's Hero made sense here, and the timing of the video and the lyrics in the song were well synched up. Any use of music, the right music, to further storylines is money, as far as I'm concerned.(I don't mean to hype my own shit here, but if you're into music, you'll dig what I'm doing with my series.)
-Tazz/Benoit: I love a good match. But much like the WWE nowadays, it's rare to find a really intrigueing match on any card. It's even harder to find one in Book because the match writing methods used here are stale and overdone, but there are only so many ways to write a match. Tazz/Benoit, with Tazz in his prime, has potential to be real hardcore, depending on how its written. I'm not sure whether you will have a difference in writing methods for PPV's and TV shows, but if you don't, you should consider different ways of making the matches themselves more attractive to the reader.
-Anderson Interview: Here's a piece from that segment;
"Arn: Bill Goldberg, the Horsemen have had your back the past few weeks, and that’s fine. We don’t expect anything in return. But I know you appreciate the history of this sport, and I think I’ve earned the right for you to listen to what I have to say. "
One question: Goldberg appreciates the history of wrestling?! Even in the world of make belief, that is laughable. Goldberg is a money hungry cunt, with no appreciation for what he did, and for the people who made the business big, so he could get rich and famous off of it.
-Main event: The match was nothing special. I may have biased because I dont like Page, but Awesome does have good match potential. I love Lance Storm's involvement.
-Goldberg/Bisch: Bischoff is gold. You are using him well. I like the exchange between Eric and Dillinger. Great job writing the closing segment between Sting and Goldberg. Goldbergs intent and Sting's reactions we're very life like. Goldberg's bluff and consequent beating of Luger, to Sting signing the contract and leaving Luger to get his ass kicked was a fucking great way to build heat for Starrcade. Once again, I like the use of Luger here. The explanation behind it and the general psychology of this angle seems well planned out. Nice job.
Overall, good card. I would never expect anything less from that Aussie He-Bitch. I can only assume you will be stepping it up a notch or ten for the PPV, which you have a strong build for. I will now retire to this roach that has been staring at me from this here ashtray for the past 10 or 15 minutes, and I bid you cunts a good day.
Nice card, Tommy boy. Good to see someone book something worth the read.
